Where others see habits, entrepreneurs see a business opportunity. A great example is the story of Shredz®, a great gym nutrition and supplement company, which conquered the world of fitness thanks to their strategical moves in social media.

The Vision

Those of us who visit the gym will know what I’m talking about when I make statements like, “there are more supplements in the fitness market than sand in the desert!” This sentence is more than enough to demotivate many entrepreneurs, but not Arvin Lal, CEO of Shredz® .

Michael Dimarco and Arvin Lal were at the gym when Arvin noticed that his friend was drinking a self made herbal supplement. Curious about many facts concerning the product, Arvin asked his friend for the remedy, which he later on received. The results were great. After only two weeks of experimenting, Lal discovered the potential of the substance and only had to find out if it’s legal and if not, how to legalize it without having it lose its effect. With a loan from their credit cards, both of them created something that would be known as Shredz®.

By 2013, the product was done and ready to be sold on the market. However, there was one problem. How would they let the world know of their invention? Lal’s vision was based on making people see that the fitness we once knew wasn’t the same anymore. It wasn’t only about bodybuilding, but motivating others and achieving personal goals. The best way to get attention was by hiring people with great influence and use them to inspire others. An example is Jonathan Coyle, the 31 years old fitness trainer.

Lal continued hiring good people but things weren’t going as he had planned. While their Facebook account kept getting reader’s attention, their invested time still wasn’t being used efficient enough to gross a good income. Things changed when they created an Instagram account. People loved the physiques of famous female and male athletes. After Arvin had taught his team how to grab followers by uploading good content and other tricks, their company started to become famous. 10 months later, they had reached 2.7 million social media followers. Their trainers had even more than 3 million followers. The company has many different supplements and generated over $3 million, according to Arvin Lal.

Motivation

Starting a company from the basement and turning it into a multi-million dollar business is what we all dream of. The company had a very rough start but is now working thanks to Paige Hathaway’s help, Jean Sean and Ainsley Rodriguez. Creating partnerships is what matters according to Lal. “Shredz® can turn anyone into a fitness idol”, he states. Daily requests for sponsorship are what they’re used to, even though they have nothing to do with sponsoring people. The big difference between Shredz® and other supplement and nutrition companies, is that they benefit from the fact that they never looked for investors. There’s no one, who’s not passionate about the fitness world, that can tell them how to run their business.
